Five Minute Friday word prompt: PEACE.
I took a “Vision Class” last week. The leader of the class (Tammy) asked each participant to list her vision for the various areas of her life (family, mental, spiritual, financial, career, and personal…just to name a few).
Listing the goals for most areas of my life was a breeze, but I struggled with personal dreams.
Of course, Tammy called on me to share.
I felt a little warm.
Our cameras were on.
Before I knew it, I just blurted out ” I don’t have any personal dreams. All I know is that I have to go to work and pay my bills”.
Tammy then asked me what I would do if money were no object.
I went blank.
But as she kept asking me questions, I began to understand why it was so hard for me to dream.
When I tell people about my seasonal décor and organizing business, they ALWAYS ask me “Aren’t you a Pharmacist?” (As if a Pharmacist couldn’t possibly want to spend any time decorating and organizing.)
When people ask me those pressing questions, I feel anxious and begin to shrink down.
Then I start asking myself questions like:
“What ARE you doing?”
“Shouldn’t you be doing something Pharmacy-ish or something that at least uses your degree?”
“Why can’t you just work as a Pharmacist and be content?”
The very thing God told me to do…(decorate and encourage people), I had no peace about because of what people might say.
I had the opportunity to get the home of a client ready to receive guests after her mother’s funeral earlier this week.
The bathroom was the first room I tackled. It was a lot of work, but her squeal of delight when she saw the finished room made it all worth it.
BEFORE
AFTER

A few days later, she told me the bathroom was her one room of peace and tranquility. (See video of the transformation HERE)
Ok God I get it… I am a Pharmacist, Professional Organizer, Décor Maven, and so much more.
When I work on an organization project, I use the same method I use when I conduct a medication review with a patient.
I call it PILLS:
P-Pull everything out
I-Inventory what you have
L-Let go of things with gratitude.
L-Label and Contain
S-Style
Time to start dreaming!
How can you let go of what people might say and step into saying yes to the God given dreams inside of you?
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
