Word prompt: Determine
Our home was a traditional late eighties home when we moved into it. Mauve walls, dark molding and trim, floral wallpaper, pink bathroom fixtures, and wait for it… CARPET IN THE BATHROOMS.
My thoughts: Let’s “Property-Brothers’-My Forever Home” this thang on out and change EVERYTHING. (In six-eight weeks of course!)
But, our budget did not include everything.
So, I had to compromise.
My first job was to determine which projects needed to be done right away and which ones could wait.
Y’all know the bathroom carpet was one of the first things to go.
One day we will remodel the entire bathroom. Until then, pink showers it is!
Along with pink showers, God is calling me to determine what is my responsibility.
RESULTS are not up to me.
When we cannot change something due to structure, budget, or life….embrace it and rely on God.
This perspective shift can be powerful.
This post was part of a weekly “blog link-up” called Five Minute Friday. Christian writers from all over the world write about a one-word prompt for five minutes and share their thoughts.
I don’t mind the pink shower after the face lift! Where I live in Nepal, Pink is a very popular interior color. Maybe I am just becoming accustomed. Enjoyed your post!
Ah thanks! I’m trendy! Def working with the pink as we won’t be changing it most likely!
Awesome! I love it.
Thanks Uncle!
I could be very happy in the bathroom – just as it is! Embrace that pink shower. You will probably miss it one day (and, no doubt, it will return to fashion!! Bathroom carpets? I doubt that!!) Love a good before and after!
I’m embracing!!!!! Thanks for stopping by
Looks great! I guess they had carpet so their feet wouldn’t get cold (?). I really like the flooring, painted grey of the cabinets, and painting of the walls which reveals the beautiful molding near the ceiling. Great job! Pink and grey look great together!
Awwwww thank you!!! I love the pink and grey too! I cannot figure the carpet out!!!
I like the pink, too!
We planned on the repainting
of our house’s walls and trim,
but ‘fore much decorating
could even begin,
God put us on another road
through bankruptcy’s dank fogs
and gave to us an overload
of lost and frightened dogs
who came through our open gate,
needing love and care,
and it thus became our fate
to embrace and dare
to love the odd living room scene
of walls half-painted Hunter Green.
Love your poems!!!
Love this, looks fantastic. Thank you for sharing. Blessings.
