Having an organized, seasonally decorated home sounds like a lot of fluff . However, I commit to placing things in labeled bins and switching out decor for the seasons because, doing so saved me and my family.
When I got divorced seven years ago, I moved my daughters into a new house. It was just us the three of us, our Maltipoo, Cuddles, and lots of hurt feelings learning how to navigate our new life.
I was heartbroken and my self esteem was in the tank. But it was my job to nurture and encourage my daughters.
I prayed, read God’s Word, danced, went to therapy, and decorated my house with inspiring words. On every wall in that house there was a symbolic “you got this” to encourage me.
We set new traditions by decorating for every season, celebration, or holiday.
I also committed to organizing our home to keep down the chaos of single parenting. My girls had cleaning chores. They despised making their beds daily and having to have our house clean before friends were allowed over.
I got remarried in 2017.
I’m still using an organized, seasonally decorated home to make new traditions with my blended family.
The kids are older now. My son has moved out on his own, but he always comments on our seasonal decor.
God has shown me in countless ways…committing to Him so that I can be the best for my family is always my best yes.
Small things matter.
…You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things… Matthew 25:23

This was such a great read and so encouraging! AND, your home is beautiful!!! Thank you!
Lovely! So pleased for you!
just stopped by from FMF #24
Beautiful and encouraging read – and your home and family are beautiful!! I’ve tried to decorate for the seasons over the years but it’s become haphazard except for Christmas. This past fall I started organizing and labeling carefully as we went through each seasonal “update”.

Great advice for all. I will incorporate into my own life. Thank you ❤️
Love you friend!
Round and round and round and round,
so the seasons ever run,
but death is coming and I’ve found
that it’s the Season of the Gun.
We’re in a sere and distant place
where help is always far away,
so to my wife, my final grace
is that she’s ready for a day
when alone she has to stand
against those who may hold ill will,
with faith in God, rifle in hand,
to fight for life and home until
the world may find a sweet release
in Christ’s coming, in His peace.
Meth labs abound on our desert mesa, and I fear for my dear wife, when I, too soon, am gone.
Thanks for stopping by Andrew! I love your poems!
I decorated for the seasons when we lived overseas and things were hard. It might not be a bad idea to start again. Such a lovely post, thanks for sharing your thoughts/family with us.
