So it is Sunday again and thankfully, I am NOT in the same overwhelmed position that I was in last week. I had the opportunity of getting some Mommy-girlfriend time yesterday and I delegated two loads of laundry to Hubby!! (Whoot! Whoot!)
Now, the challenge is to continue, this trend. The question is how? Well, I have been talking about it for a while and after doing a little extra cleaning last week, I think I have the house to a place where I can begin a Minimum Mantenace Cleaning Plan.
The Blog “Organized Home” defines minimum maintenace cleaning plan as “a short list of essential household tasks. It’s a bottom-line list of chores and activities necessary to keep things running at a basic level.”. Of course minimum maintenace will not take the place of a full home cleaning but it is a great place to start and will most likely make the full home cleaning not take as long.
I found couple of great articles about minimum maintenace:

Here is my proposed minimum maintenace schedule for this week (I have to try it out first to make sure it works!)
Kitchen: Wash dishes/run dishwasher and put the dishes up! Wipe down the countertops and sweep.
Entry/Family Room: Pick up things that do not belong and return them to where their proper home! (This is our biggest problem!!!)
Bedrooms: Everyone will be responsible for keeping their own room neat: beds made, clothes picked up off of floor, trash thrown away.
Mail Center: Open mail when it comes in and either file it or trash it!
Bathrooms—The girls and I use a lot of hair products so the the bathroom counters stay icky! This week, I am going to buy some clorox wipes and wipe down our bathroom counters twice a day. The girls will be responsible for wiping down their counter at least once per day. (We will see how that goes.)
The girls and I will also pick out and prepare our outfits for the next day at night!! (This is a big time saver for the next morning!)
Wish me luck! Hopefully, by keeping up with things daily, I will have more time to focus on the really important things!
(BTW, if even the minimum maintenance plan is too much for you right now, check out this 6 item cleaning check list from Martha Stewart.
