Happy Friday! I’m setting my timer for five minutes and I’m going to write…PERIOD.
Today’s word is cancel.
An element of control is wrapped in the fabric of the word cancel.
When I decide I no longer need services, I cancel them. When our culture/church/friend group determines someone has gone too far, said person is “canceled”.
What about when God whispers?
Do I immediately respond to God with obedience or do I cancel His request by needing to understand all the details before I take a step?
In total transparency, I cancel God’s requests often. I don’t flat-out say no. I just begin to research how it will or won’t work. (Research being looking online and comparing myself to other people who seem to be uber-successful at what God has called me to do.)
Can you hear the violin playing soft sad music while I only end up only thinking about what God asked me to do but doing nothing?
If I can’t see the complete process or the task seems above my skill level, I cancel the idea.
In the shower a couple of weeks ago, I felt God leading me to get back into writing devotionals. But the idea He gave me was to do short devotionals in a presentation format. My response–NO ONE WANTS TO SEE/HEAR THAT plus it will be too much work. CANCEL.
I’ve started creating presentation-like devotions that combine my love of creating happy spaces and encouragement! Do I have it all figured out …NO!
But, my cancel culture stops today!
If you would like to see my videos go HERE.
Have you ever canceled God’s whispers to you?
How can you finish 2020 strong?
Today’s post is part of a weekly blog link-up called Five Minute Friday. Click on the link to read some of the other posts! I am blown away by the writing of these Christian writers from all over the world!
Love the videos!!!!!
God tried to set for me a task,
a little while ago;
I idd not think it a fair ask,
and so I told Him, No.
I did not have the money,
and did not have the time;
besides, the day was sunny,
and the point-break was sublime.
And who gave The Man the right
to trespass on my turf?
Sure as day is born from night,
I was born to surf.
He asked again, and gave me pause,
for now He’d sent, as envoy, Jaws.
Oh my! Do I ever cancel God’s plans for me! I use excuses, procrastination, selfishness, and the list goes on to NOT do what He’s leading me to do. A lot like Paul in the “do-do” chapter! (Romans 7:15) I’m glad you’re cancelling your cancelling! It’s an encouragement to us all! Your #fmf neighbor, Cindy
Lots of food for thought here.
Thanks for sharing.
