Hello Divas, we are finally on day 8 of our 31 days to clean challenge. “31 Days to Clean” is actually an ebook by Sara Mae. Click here for info on ordering the book an on our challenge! I don’t know about y’all but I feel like I have been in a WAR and cleaning is winning!
For the Day 8 lesson, Sara Mae suggests that to really overcome the rebellion of our domains, we have to keep an eye on the eternal value of our work and stay on task.
Staying on task means being consistent in our battle of a well maintained home. I really struggle in being consistent with cleaning. I know I have to consistently put things back, wipe up the counter tops, clean bathrooms, do laundry and on and on but I just don’t do it.
How do we really win this battle?
A man named Asa in bible has a lot to teach us on how to win a battle.
2 Chronicles 14:9 -11
Zerah the Cushite marched out against them with an army of thousands upon thousands and three hundred chariots, and came as far as Mareshah. Asa went out to meet him, and they took up battle positions in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah. Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said, “Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us,Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. Lord, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against you.”
Asa was attacked by an Ethiopian army of a million men. Prepared but out numbered, Asa did not complain or dread his battle. Asa took up his battle position and then prayed to the Lord. The Lord responded to his prayer, and Asa won the victory over the vast Ethiopian army with less military personell.
At the end of each lesson, the author, Sara Mae, gives two challenges:
- The Mary Challenge -Something you do that encourages/engages your heart
- The Martha Challenge – Specific cleaning tasks
The Mary Challenge for day 8 is to Think bac to a time when god refined your charter through difficult circumstances. Write it down and then thank Him for his faithfulness.
The Martha challenge is to clean out an organize your kitchen drawers. Divas I must admit, I laughed out loud when I read this and I also sucked my teeth and thought to myself… “she is out of her mind”. I have had NO time this week to clean out a drawer.
So, in the true spirit of imperfect progress, I am comitting to cleaning out our kitchen junk drawer….YIKES! The project will have to wait until this weekend but with God’s help I will finish it. Pics to come!
“When we are faced with tight spots, meager resources, a vast army of problems, or seemingly dead-end solutions, let’s not panic but instead turn to God who fights for His people and gives them victory.” -Marvin Williams
