Today is day twenty of the 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes writing challenge. The word prompt for today is TELL. Instead of a regular post, I am sharing an excerpt from my book, The Distracted Dance of Resilience.
Often, we get so busy living life we lose perspective on how far we have come. We remember how much it hurt, but we forget how just when we thought it was the end, God came through for us. One of the main ways God helps people is through other people. If we take the time to look back, we will see people along our paths who held our hands, were kind and met needs.
Disappointments are part of all of our lives. Some are small and easy to get over, and others demand a long time to bounce back from. Massive or minuscule, our hurts provide us with an opportunity to draw closer to God and other people. When we draw close to God, He draws close to us. When God is near, our rescue is a sure thing.
If you have ever been rescued, the world needs to hear your story.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story—those he redeemed from the hand of the foe…Psalm 107:2 ESV
The process of being hurt, forgiving, being rescued, and moving on by telling our story is the distracted dance of resilience.
“Don’t waste your pain, let God heal it, recycle it, utilize it and use it to bless other people,”–Rick Warren.
Thank you for rescuing us. Thank you for sending people in our lives at just the right time to comfort and care for us. Please forgive us for being shy about sharing our stories and for not seeing ourselves as people who were rescued and have something to share with the world. As we move forward, please keep us mindful of our stories and give us the motivation to use our pain to bless other people.
What story about how God brought you through can you tell someone today?
