Happy Sunday. Today is day thirteen of the “31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes” writing challenge. Today’s word is REACH.
I spent most of the day yesterday cleaning. Not just regular “pick up” or straightening. Baseboards and ceiling fan type cleaning requiring tools to help reach difficult areas.
Hubs and the girls were not at home, so I didn’t have anyone to talk to. It was kinda nice not to say a word. (Who knew?) My hands were busy but my mind was not. Cleaning turned into hours of silence and alone time with God.
While wiping out corners and throwing out empty cosmetic containers, I realized life has a way of piling junk up in the hard to reach areas of my heart.
I see the mail, school papers, and stuff from every where else on the counter. Busyness creeps in, and I just make a neat pile.
Neat piles of things needing to be sorted or thrown away, make cleaning more difficult. If you move the pile, a mess is made and when time scarce, the neat pile becomes a “shoved pile” into a corner. Days, weeks, maybe even months go by while cobwebs, dust and spiders find their new home.
My mother came by later and brought her steamer to help with my deep cleaning. Y’all if you don’t have a steamer, you need one in your life. We were able to clean tile and reach crevices under the cabinets with ease.
While she used the steamer she matter of factly said:”You have to do some cleaning everyday so it won’t pile up on you.” We all know that right? Yet we don’t do it.
“We don’t need more information, we need more application”. -Steven Furtick
Are you spending some quiet time with God daily to allow Him to clean the hard to reach places of your heart so life won’t pile up on you?
